With two tournament victories to her name already since the turn of the year, Linn Grant is looking to make it a South African hat-trick in Johannesburg this week.
The talented Swede has been in inspired form in 2022, having claimed silverware at both the Dimension Data Ladies Challenge and the Jabra Ladies Classic in February.
As we prepare for the first of two weeks in South Africa, Grant is looking to make her first tournament as an LET member, having gained status with a T7 finish at Q-School back in December.
And with two wins already under her belt in the last six weeks, the 2017 PING Junior Solheim Cup player is looking forward to pitting her wits against the rest of the field at Modderfontein Golf Club.
“It’s my first LET event as a member, so I’m excited about that, and it’s nice to have a bigger field with more competition this week, and it’ll be nice to see how my game is on this tour,” Grant said.
“I’ve played three Sunshine Ladies Tour events – I hadn’t played the Tour before so that was a first, and I had three good events before having three weeks off to get ready for this week.”
Despite having only just got her LET card, Grant has already made her mark on Tour, with two consecutive second place finishes during the 2021 season.
Both results came at home in Sweden, as she finished a shot behind Pauline Roussin-Bouchard at the Didriksons Skaftö Open, before coming runner-up to compatriot Maja Stark at the Creekhouse Ladies Open a week later.
And after earning status on both the LET and the LPGA, Grant has been busy over the off-season honing her game ahead of her first full season as a professional, which seems to be reaping instant rewards.
“Instead of wins I try to see it in terms of stats and my scores and see if my game is heading in the right direction with everything I did over the winter,” the Swede continued.
“I had a mini project especially focusing on my wedge work, and I think I’ve seen the results of the time I’ve put into it over my last three events, and I hope it’s going to stay good.
“At the moment everything feels good so I’m excited.”
Grant will be teeing off at 12.30 when the Joburg Ladies Open gets underway on Thursday, alongside home favourite Lee-Anne Pace and American star Kelly Whaley – you can see all tee times here.
