Linn Grant returned to the Ladies European Tour (LET) last week with a second-place finish at the Lalla Meryem Cup.
The 2022 Race to Costa del Sol champion produced rounds of 73 (E), 70 (-3) and 68 (-5) in her first event of the year and was runner-up behind compatriot Maja Stark.
Off the back of that result, Grant headed to the Aramco Saudi Ladies International presented by Public Investment Fund to compete at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club for the first time.
And despite having a little bit of rust in her first outing of the season, Grant was pleased with her game on the final day.
She explained: “It was a good start to the year. I was happy with it. I was happy with my final round – especially where I avoided making a triple and a double like my first two rounds – but it was a good start and a good first feeling of the year.
“Right now, I feel I just need to get back into it a bit again, I feel like I was losing shots on the shots I’m not used to having, and I need to bring out the impossible skills again.
“I feel a lot better in my game after playing in Morocco, I’m excited to be here and play another event to get back into full swing for the season.”
After taking a break from golf in December, the world number 29 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings is getting used to competing again.
The Swedish star is teeing it up in the first round alongside Denmark’s Nanna Koerstz Madsen and Korea’s Hyo-Joo Kim.
But Grant knows it will be a tough test this week with windy conditions and still expects there to be a few errors in her game.
“I think last week the feeling of being in competition was just strange,” said the four-time LET winner. “It’s windy and a long course this week so I feel there’s going to be some mistakes here in the second week of the year but I’m looking forward to it.
“It’s windy, it’s long, but the greens are big though. If you can hit the greens and be a good putter, to score under-par this week will be good and to do that continuously for four rounds in a row would be a good result.
“It’s a good test, it’s my second week and it’s some people’s start to the season, so everyone is still getting used to competition. I always like to play in a good field and see how my game is compared to everyone else.
“The weekend is looking a bit calmer this week, so I’m just trying to get through the first two days and see what I can play around with swing-wise and shot-wise and work on those saves out there. It would be nice to come off with a good tournament.”
