Nicole Broch Estrup finished in a share of second place at last year’s edition of the Dutch Ladies Open.
The Danish star produced rounds of 73-67-65 to finish one shot behind eventual winner Trichat Cheenglab of Thailand.
But it was a great week for the one-time LET winner who is thankful to be back for the tournament in 2024.
“I have really good memories,” she said. “I think I shot one-over, five-under, seven-under – the last two days was really good. The last day was probably one of the best days last year.
“I got off to a really hot start and definitely felt the nerves coming down the stretch, but I feel like I finished off quite well. I went to the range, hit a few drives and then came back and saw Trichat making birdie on the last.
“I was so happy for her as well, she had played a really solid season so far and had just missed out on that win. I was happy to spray her with water on the 18th green.
“It’s one of the best courses we play all year. It’s a super nice tree-lined course, you have a little bit of an advantage hitting it far. There’s a couple of holes where I remember last year I could carry the middle part of the holes and leave yourself a short chip or wedge shot in. I enjoy being back and I’m looking forward to the week.”
Broch Estrup has some extra support this week with husband Kasper available and able to be her caddie this week.
It’s been four weeks since the couple have seen each other due to their travel schedules, but the Dane is looking forward to the next few weeks with Kasper by her side.
“I’m really excited to have Kasper back this week, we haven’t seen each other for four weeks,” she explained. “A couple of weeks ago, I split with my full-time caddie that I’ve had for a year Ollie.
“We’ve had some really good memories and some really good weeks the last year, but everything good comes to an end sometimes. Kasper is off for four weeks, so he is stepping in this week and in two weeks in Portland as well, it will be really nice to have him back on the bag.
“He knows me better than anyone, I have been really excited to have him this week. We only decided it two weeks ago, it’s definitely going to be a different atmosphere having him back, but I’m looking forward to it.”
Broch Estrup is having an extremely consistent season with five top-10 finishes to her name, as well as an unofficial win at the rained-out Australian Women’s Classic where she finished in a share of first place.
The 31-year-old sits 10th in the LET Order of Merit and is hoping a good performance this week will secure her spot at the 2024 AIG Women’s Open.
The top five players who aren’t already exempt from the 2024 LET Order of Merit points list as of Monday 22 July will receive a place at St Andrews.
She continued: “It’s been a pretty consistent year so far. Unfortunately, I missed the cut last week in Evian but other than that it’s been super solid. I’m looking forward to a couple of good tournaments coming up over the summer.
“I’m going to go a little bit more to the States in the fall, but really excited for Scottish and hopefully, I’ll claim one of the spots for the AIG Women’s Open after this week and to play that at St Andrews is going to be almost the highlight of my career. I’m really looking forward to hopefully, getting a spot there.”
Broch Estrup will tee it up in the first round at 10.20 am (local time) alongside Dutch player Pasqualle Coffa and South Africa’s Lee-Anne Pace.
