GLUED CLUB AND TWISTED ANKLE! FORBRIGD IN CONTENTION AFTER DRAMATIC 24 HOURS

No player had a more dramatic 24 hours at the Aramco Korea Championship than Dorthea Forbrigd across rounds one and two… but that didn’t stop the Norwegian firing one of cards of the afternoon on Saturday to soar into contention.

During round one, Forbrigd was forced to complete her day with one less club after the head on her 6-iron snapped off the shaft.

After signing for a 74 (+2), the popular Norwegian spent the evening scanning golf shops in Seoul attempting to fix the problem. With everywhere closed, she eventually turned to Tour caddie, Jamie Tipper, for assistance back at the official hotel.

She explained: “Yesterday the head fell off my 6-iron. I spent two hours in the evening trying to find a place that could repair my club. It was quite unsuccessful, everywhere was shut.

“[With the help of Tipper] I ended up using some glue that we bought from the convenience store. We fixed it, and miraculously it helped today on the course. I hit two shots with it, and made one birdie from it. Yeah, it worked!”

And it certainly did, Forbrigd using the club twice en route to a 69 (-3) – the second best round of the day – to surge into T5 with 18 holes remaining.

But if that wasn’t enough, the 27-year-old’s round was made all the more impressive given she also suffered an injury out on the course at New Korea Country Club…

She continued: “Today, I went in to grab some food for lunch during my round and ended up twisting my ankle pretty badly on the curb. I had to get the physio out to tape my foot! So overall, I’m really happy to shoot three-under par on the back nine.”

After a dramatic 24 hours in Korea, Forbrigd will now be hoping for a calmer 18 holes in Korea as she goes in pursuit of a maiden Ladies European Tour (LET) title.

She said: “Hopefully tomorrow there is no drama and I can get a good recovery in tonight. Hopefully all my clubs hold. I’m excited for the challenge.”
