Eleanor Givens has had a consistent week at the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España at Real Club de Golf Las Brisas.
At the start of the season, the Englishwoman made the decision to return to the LET after taking a medical break in 2022.
And despite still having struggles off the golf course and her game not being where she’d like, Givens has seen glimpses that we will take forward to next season.
“It’s been a lot harder than I thought and was expecting,” said Givens. “I have really struggled at times with it and still am kind of struggling, but also really happy to be back at the same time. It’s definitely a work in progress.
“My golf has been nowhere near where it should be or where I wanted it to be, but I have also seen some really good stuff and good glimpses. I’m just trying to take that into the off-season and into next year as well.
“I’m really pleased with it, I don’t think people have seen necessarily what I’m dealing with still. There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes to get me out on the golf course. I’m really pleased with it but also golf is so frustrating sometimes and that doesn’t go away, I’m just hoping to get back to a little bit more of normality as each month passes.”
Heading into this week, the 34-year-old sits 68th in the 2023 Race to Costa del Sol and knows she had to play well to keep her full card for next season.
But it has been a solid week in Spain for Givens with rounds of 71 (-1), 72 (E) and 71 (-1) on the first three days.
She explained: “I’m pleased, I’ve played really solid this week. It could have as always been a better, but I’m pleased with how it’s going and just trying to take each shot at a time and I think I’m doing a pretty good job of that so far.
“Loving the weather in sunny Spain especially when I look at the forecast for the weather next week back at home. Looking forward to one more round in the sunshine.”
