France’s Sophie Giquel-Bettan claimed the Terre Blanche Ladies Open title with a final round of 69 to finish four strokes ahead of young Spanish amateur, Patricia Sanz Barrio.
The Frenchwoman shot the best score of the day in a rain interrupted final round that saw her catch the overnight leader, Sanz Barrio, after 15 holes with both players lying at 7 under par.
The experienced Frenchwoman, who is in her tenth season on the LET, finished strongly with a birdie on the 17th hole, to finish at 8 under par. In contrast, the 22-year-old amateur from Madrid, bogeyed the last three holes to finish at 4 under par, but was happy overall, earning a place in the field for next week’s Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco on the Ladies European Tour.
Spain’s Mireia Prat and Sweden’s Daniela Holmqvist, finished in a tie for third place on a total of 219, level par.
At the end of the season, the top five players on the 2013 Order of Merit will qualify for the 2014 LET season while the top 15 will qualify for the final stage of Lalla Aicha Tour School.
