South Africa’s Nicole Garcia shot 71, two under par, to take a three shot lead after the second round of the Lalla Aicha Tour School in Rabat, Morocco.
The 23-year-old from Kempton Park bogeyed the short fourth hole but recovered well with back-to-back birdies on the 7th and 8th holes to reach the turn in one under par. A further two birdies on the 12th and 13th briefly gave the South African a five shot lead but a bogey on the 16th halted Garcia’s charge, but still puts the LET rookie in a commanding position going into the third round.
France’s Astrid Vayson de Pradenne, teeing off from the 10th tee started poorly, with a run of five bogeys in a row from the 11th to the 15th. The 29-year-old fought back with a closing nine of 3 under par, to finish with a 75 and a level par total for the tournament.
Netherland’s amateur Anne Van Dam sits alone in third place after a one over par 74 placed her on +1.
Iceland’s Valdis Jonsdottir (73) and Brazil’s Victoria Lovelady (76) are tied for fourth place at 3 over par, with Sweden’s Louise Friberg (72) and Colombian amateur Anna Christina Kindgren (77) a further two shots back at five over par in a tie for 5th position.
After 72 holes, the top 42 players and ties will progress to the Final Stage of Lalla Aicha Tour School, which takes place at the Samanah and Al Maaden courses in Marrakech, from the 17 – 21 December.
