Cara Gainer recorded her best result of 2024 so far after finishing in a share of fourth place at last week’s Women’s NSW Open.
The Englishwoman had her best season to date in 2023 finishing 16th in the Race to Costa del Sol.
After a steady start to the season, where she has made every cut, Gainer produced her first top-10 of the year.
The 28-year-old carded rounds of 69-70-69 to finish in T4 on eight-under-par at Magenta Shores Golf & Country Club.
“I have really enjoyed the week,” she said. “It’s a golf course that I liked with linksy style and a bit of wind. It didn’t actually get too windy this week, but we certainly had a bit of a challenge out there with tricky pins in the final round.
“I’m overall really pleased with the week. I have been trending and getting better each tournament. It was a bit of a slow and rusty start, but back to getting up the leaderboard.”
This week the LET has its second week in Australia with the Australian Women’s Classic – Presented by Pacific Bay Resort Studios.
Gainer knows it will be a different challenge with a different type of golf course, but it hoping her game comes together.
She explained: “I thought my long game was really solid this week, I actually didn’t hole many putts but I capitalised on my opportunities especially the par-fives. It was close to being really good, but it wasn’t quite there.
“I’m looking forward to it, I have never played Bonville having never played in Australia before this. I have heard it’s a gorgeous golf course and we might get a bit of rain as well. I’m looking forward to a new challenge.”
