The 14th Solheim Cup is underway here at St Leon-Rot in Germany and after the opening few holes the visiting American team hold a slight advantage.
The opening American pair of Morgan Pressel and Paul Creamer won the first hole with a par against Ann Nordqvist and Suzann Pettersen and were still one hole ahead six holes later. Cristie Kerr and Lexi Thompson were three up on Karine Icher and Azahara Munoz after six holes while the bottom match involving Sandra Gal and Catriona Matthew for Europe and Stacy Lewis and Lizette Salas for America were all square after the opening five holes.
English duo Charley Hull and Mel Reid went ahead of Michelle Wie and Brittany Lincicome for the first time with a birdie on the first.
