Alexandra Försterling had a rookie season to remember on the Ladies European Tour (LET) ending up with two victories to her name.
The German secured her maiden win at the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open and followed that up two months later with a win in Mallorca.
But despite her successes, the 24-year-old is taking a relaxed approach to the 2024 season as she gets ready to tee it up at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open.
“I have never really thought about putting pressure on myself or that I have to do it again,” said the two-time LET winner.
“I feel like I enjoyed it so much and that’s why I want to have it again because it’s such a nice feeling to win on Tour. I wouldn’t call it pressure, it’s just more that you want it so badly. I’m just trying to get into it and stay relaxed.
“Last year, I really learned to stay patient. In the beginning, I noticed that I wasn’t really patient because everything was new and that’s when I put a lot of pressure on myself and that has to work now. Then you realise you have so many tournaments in the season, so many holes to play, so many shots that you take, and it will work eventually.
“It’s a good start and everybody will try to see how it’s going, your expectations are pretty low. I’ve come from a really cold winter and was just indoors and I think I have only played three rounds in Spain on a practise camp. My expectations are low and I’m taking what I can get.”
Having secured some status on the LPGA in December, Försterling is starting her season on the LET with this being her second appearance at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open.
Last season, the ASU graduate finished in a tie for 17th place after rounds of 75-73-72-76 at Vipingo Ridge.
The German will begin her title tilt at 8.29 am (local time) on Thursday alongside India’s Diksha Dagar and English rookie Annabell Fuller.
Försterling is looking forward to the challenge of playing in Kenya once again on a course she believes suits her.
She explained: “I tried to practise a lot during the winter as much as I could, though it was indoors most of the time. I want to take this week as a relaxed start to the season and just see how I can get myself into position, see how I’m hitting it but I’m really looking forward to the week.
“I would say this golf course definitely suits me. It’s a tight course and I’m almost most of the time a straight hitter, so that’s a plus for me. I tried to take all the things that I learned from last year about the course and strategy and take it to this year and hopefully, learn.”
