FIVE THINGS TO KNOW AHEAD OF THE 2024 VOLVO CAR SCANDINAVIAN MIXED

A second week in Sweden awaits the Ladies European Tour (LET) this week with the 2024 Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed.

Vasatorps Golfklubb is the venue for this year’s edition of the tournament which is co-sanctioned between the DP World Tour and the LET.

Here are a few talking points ahead of the tournament…

Innovative format

This year is the fourth edition of the Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed which is co-sanctioned by the LET and the DP World Tour.

The event sees 78 men and 78 women playing in the same groups for one prize fund and one trophy.

Having the men and women tee it up on the same stage is great for the game of golf and showcases the game at the top level on the Tours in Europe.

Defending champions in town

Two defending champions are in attendance this week with Linn Grant, who made history in 2022 teeing it up in her hometown of Helsingborg.

The five-time LET winner became the first woman to win on the DP World Tour in 2022 when she secured a nine-shot victory.

England’s Dale Whitnell, who won last year at Ullna Golf Club, is also back and hoping to retain his crown.

Swedes aplenty

There are no fewer than 27 Swedes playing in this year’s edition of the Scandinavian Mixed which has a field of 156 players.

Solheim Cup stars Linn Grant, Madelene Sagström and Caroline Hedwall are in town for the occasion, as well as LET winners Johanna Gustavsson and Lisa Pettersson.

On the men’s side, the likes of Jesper Svensson, Vincent Norrman, Alex Björk and Sebastian Söderberg will be vying for the title on home soil.

LET returns to Vasatorps

It has been nine years since the LET was at Vasatorps Golfklubb which is the venue for this week’s tournament.

The Helsingborg Open was held at Vasatorps in 2013, 2014 and 2015 but the Tour makes a return to the golf club this week.

Denmark’s Nicole Broch Estrup was the winner last time out here and will be hoping to replicate a similar performance.

Sustainability initiatives

With the tournament being in Sweden, sustainability is once again a key pillar of the Scandinavian Mixed.

Both Tours have initiatives with the LET’s Celebrating the Green presented by Dow and DP World Tour’s Green Drive.

A beach clean will happen with local pre-school children along with a careers in golf workshop for 16-19 year olds, as well as sustainability initiatives such as use of water refill stations, electric courtesy car fleet and no single-use plastic used in catering.
