FIVE THINGS TO KNOW AHEAD OF THE 2024 DORMY OPEN HELSINGBORG

Bronte Law

It is the first of two weeks in Sweden with the Dormy Open Helsingborg first up on the Ladies European Tour (LET) schedule.

Allerum Golf Club is the venue for the tournament, which returned to the schedule last year following a seven-year hiatus and takes place between May 31 and June 2.

Before the tournament gets underway on Friday, here are a few talking points to look out for…

Pettersson ready to defend her crown

Sweden’s Lisa Pettersson is back at Allerum Golf Club where she earned her maiden LET victory in last year’s tournament.

The home star improved throughout the competition with rounds of 70-68-67 and finished with a spectacular eagle finish to secure a one-shot victory.

This year Pettersson, who is from Taby just outside of Stockholm, has her family with her as they celebrate the week together and hopes to replicate her success.

Tamburlini continues fine form

Chiara Tamburlini is in her rookie year on the LET having earned her card thanks to a top-6 finish on the LET Access Series in 2023.

The Swiss star secured her first LET title at the Joburg Ladies Open last month and then came second at last week’s Jabra Ladies Open.

Tamburlini leads the Rookie of the Year standings and sits third in the LET Order of Merit after a great first four months on Tour.

Plenty of home interest

There is plenty of Swedish interest this week with no fewer than 24 Swedish players teeing it up at the Dormy Open Helsingborg.

Pettersson is one of the Swedish LET winners in town alongside Caroline Hedwall, Johanna Gustavsson, Linda Wessberg and Jenny Haglund.

While there is a lot of new talent coming through as well with newly-turned professional Kasja Arwefjall alongside amateurs Meja Örtengren, Nora Sundberg, Louise Rydqvist, Elin Pudas Remler and Moa Svendenskiold.

Order of Merit battle heats up

England’s Bronte Law still sits at the top of the LET Order of Merit and has accumulated 1,222.15 points from the eight events she has played.

In third and fourth place are Switzerland’s Tamburlini with 1,109.10 points and Belgium’s Manon De Roey with 1,037.17 points.

With the three stars all playing in Sweden over the next two weeks, there’s the opportunity for there to be a new leader in the Order of Merit.

PJSC Winners in town

Three two-time winners of the PING Junior Solheim Cup will all be teeing it up in this week’s Dormy Open Helsingborg.

Europe made history in 2021 becoming the first team to win on U.S. soil and then successfully defended their title in Spain in 2023.

Swedish duo Meja Örtengren and Nora Sundberg were both part of the winning European teams, as was Germany’s Helen Briem.
