Next up for the Ladies European Tour (LET) is a trip to Finland to Pickala Golf, which is located just 30 minutes from Helsinki.
The Ladies Open by Pickala Rock Resort is being held from June 29 to July 1 and will see 126 players vying to be crowned champion and follow in the footsteps of Matilda Castren and Anne-Charlotte Mora.
Here are a few things you need to know…
DEFENDING CHAMPION MORA IS BACK
At the 2022 edition of the tournament, it was Anne-Charlotte Mora who triumphed at Ålands Golf Club recording a one-stroke victory to clinch her maiden LET title.
The Frenchwoman’s best result of 2023 so far has been T10 at the Jabra Ladies Open and she is back in Finland seeking to defend her title and hopefully rediscover the form which made her an LET winner.
FINNISH STARS OUT IN FORCE
No fewer than 14 Finnish players will be battling it out to try and hoist the trophy aloft at the Ladies Open by Pickala Rock Resort.
LET winner Tiia Koivisto, who won her maiden title at the 2022 Jabra Ladies Open, will be teeing it up alongside Ursula Wikstrom, Sanna Nuutinen, Noora Komulainen and many more on home soil.
While there are also five Finnish amateurs with Krista Junkkari, Katri Bakker, Henni Mustonen, Elina Saksa and Fanni Gronlund all hoping to put in good performances.
DAGAR IN HOT RUN OF FORM
Diksha Dagar’s game has been trending in the right direction for the past month having finished in a tie for sixth place at the Belgian Ladies Open and a share of eighth place in Helsingborg.
The Indian star then ended the week in Germany in a tie for third place before getting over the line at last week’s Tipsport Czech Ladies Open to seal her second LET title.
And Dagar will be hoping her consistency in this stretch of the season continues this week at Pickala Golf in Finland.
RACE TO COSTA DEL SOL BATTLE CONTINUES AS MAJOR SEASON APPROACHES
It is just a few more weeks until the European Major season is upon us and the players on the LET are trying to get as many points as possible.
Three of the top 10 on the 2023 Race to Costa del Sol are competing this week with last week’s winner Dagar in fifth, Chiara Noja is seventh and Celine Herbin is in tenth place.
The trio will be aiming to move further up and solidify their positions near the summit, but there are a host of players waiting just below hoping this is their week to climb up the standings.
CHEENGLAB LEADS ROOKIE RACE
Thailand’s Trichat Cheenglab produced a stunning 64 (-8) on the final day of the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open to climb up the leaderboard and seal outright second place.
In her rookie season on Tour, the 27-year-old has shown glimpses of promise throughout the season, but it all came together in Czechia for her to record her best-ever result on the LET.
Now Cheenglab sits at the top of the Rookie of the Year standings with 584.30 points and will be hoping to add a few more to her tally this week.
