Chinese Ladies European Tour members Xi Yu Lin and Yu Yang Zhang were tied for the lead on 10-under-par midway through the final round of the Sanya Ladies Open.
Lin began the final round with a two stroke lead but lost it to Babe Liu of Chinese Taipei after three holes as the 18-year-old from Guangzhou was a little tense on the greens early in her round.
However, Lin regained her advantage with mid length birdie putts on the seventh and eighth holes.
Zhang had four birdies on the front nine to catch her friend and compatriot, including one at the fourth and three in a row from the seventh.
Liu was on fire for the first few holes and birdied the second and third, but missed several birdie chances and three putted from two feet under pressure on the par-four eighth. She was two strokes adrift on eight under par at the turn, with England’s Charley Hull and Huei-Ju Shih of Chinese Taipei three shots off the lead on seven-under-par.
Both Lin and Zhang from Guangzhou are targeting their first wins on the Ladies European Tour, but Lin already has already accumulated four wins on the China LPGA over the last three years.
Conditions are scorching hot with a strong breeze on the exposed parts of the course.
