The Ladies European Tour (LET) is back on the road with a trip to Ireland this week after two weeks in Scotland.
It is the 18th edition of the KPMG Women’s Irish Open and the third consecutive year it’s been played since returning to the schedule in 2022.
The tournament will see a 72-hole stroke play competition take place from August 29th til September 1st with a cut to the top 60 professionals and ties after 36 holes.
Carton House, A Fairmont Managed Hotel is the new venue for the 2024 edition with playing happening on the O’Meara Course.
In 2024, there are 403 members of the LET from 44 different nations and this week, there are 132 players from 34 nations teeing it up.
Czechia’s Klara Davidson Spilkova won the tournament in 2022 with Denmark’s Smilla Tarning Soenderby taking the title in 2023.
Ireland’s home charge is led by Leona Maguire, who won her maiden LET title at the beginning of July.
Maguire is one of 13 Irish players teeing it up this week including LET rookie Lauren Walsh who hails from Kildare.
Irish amateur Olivia Costello is the youngest player in the field at just 16 years of age and is one of a group of Irish amateurs getting the chance to play in an LET event.
Maguire will be representing Europe in a couple of weeks having automatically qualified for her third Solheim Cup and European teammate Georgia Hall, who will also be playing in the 2024 European Team, is making her debut in the KPMG Women’s Irish Open.
South Africa’s Casandra Alexander comes into the week off the back of a T7 result at the final major of the year – the AIG Women’s Open.
Meanwhile of the 132 players in the field, there are 36 LET winners who have a combined total of 68 LET wins between them.
