F1 Driver to Caddie for Minea Blomqvist

Finnish racing driver Heikki Kovalainen was seen driving down the stunning fairways of Saadiyat Beach Golf Club in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday as he played in the Pro-Am for the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open alongside Maha Haddioui.

He loves the game so much that he will return to caddie for fellow Finn Minea Blomqvist during the tournament from Wednesday, having caddied for her over nine holes during a practice round at the inaugural event 12 months ago.

Golf is played as a second sport by hundreds of sportsmen and women around the world and Kovalainen, who raced in Formula 1 between 2007 and 2013 for the Renault, McLaren, Team Lotus and Lotus F1 teams, is definitely a fan. Now driving in Japan, he claimed his first F1 win at the 2008 Hungarian Grand Prix and coincidentally, Blomqvist earned her first Ladies European Tour win in Hungary, at the 2004 OTP Bank Central European Open, followed by the 2008 Finnair Masters in Helsinki.
