ENJOYMENT IS THE KEY FOR PELÁEZ TRIVINO AT SEASON FINALE

Ana Peláez Trivino

Ana Peláez Trivino heads into the Ladies European Tour (LET) season finale having secured a trophy on home soil last week.

The 26-year-old secured a six-stroke victory at last week’s Santander Spanish Women’s Professional Championship which was played at Real Club de Golf Guadalmina.

Despite coming away with a trophy, Peláez Trivino was happiest to have her brother on her bag and loved being able to enjoy every minute of playing golf.

“More than the trophy, I think it was just a magical week,” she said. “I think playing at home is always a great feeling but having my brother in the bag it’s even better.

“I enjoyed every minute. it’s hard to believe because usually when we play golf we take it to heart, but I know I enjoyed every single shot, so I’m really happy and I think that’s why the outcome was getting the trophy.”

The LET winner is excited heading into this week’s Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho.

Real Club Guadalhorce Golf in Malaga is hosting the tournament for the first time and Peláez Trivino is pleased to have the event in her hometown.

However, she doesn’t know how much support she will have on the sidelines as she’s left that to her family members and is just hoping to enjoy the week again.

She explained: “I think it’s great it is the first time that, we have hosted the season finale here in Malaga downtown, which is great because I think more people will have the chance to come and visit, not only people who live in Marbella.

“I think it’s great not only for the players to enjoy downtown, but also for the city. it’ll bring something new for tourists or for simply people who live here to come and watch and enjoy and discover.

“My dad and my sister have been asking for tickets and I said to them that basically, I just want to play golf. I don’t know how many people will come! I’m guessing since it is close to home, more people will come. As long as I enjoy the week, that’s all I need.”

Having grown up in the area, Peláez Trivino has played many times at Real Club Guadalhorce Golf from a young age.

Though she doesn’t play at the course as much as she used to, the Spanish star does have a level of knowledge on this week’s venue.

“I’m quite familiar with it,” she continued. “I’ve been playing it since I was a child, basically, then it’s been years that I haven’t played here only like once every maybe eight months or six months.

“Just because I have some friends that are members here, so then they invite me, and we play together. I am quite familiar because I grew up playing here tournaments here. It is quite challenging off the tee and then the greens are quite slopy, so maybe whoever is more accurate off the tee and has a good week with the putter, I think will have a chance.”

Peláez Trivino will tee it up in the first round on Thursday at 10.44 am (local time) alongside England’s Annabel Dimmock and India’s Pranavi Urs.
