With another few weeks before the 2023 Ladies European Tour (LET) season resumes at the Jabra Ladies Open, let’s dive into the scoring statistics and see who’s leading the way after six events.
Lowest Rounds
We’ve seen plenty of stars go low already in the first quarter of the season, with South Africa’s Ashleigh Buhai and France’s Pauline Roussin both posting 64s en route to winning the Investec South African Women’s Open and Aramco Team Series – Singapore (Individual), respectively.
One better than them is Belgium’s Manon De Roey who fired a 63 on Sunday at the Aramco Saudi Ladies International to equal the course record at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club.
But leading the way for the lowest round of 2023 so far is Germany’s Chiara Noja. Having already made a solid start to the season, the teenage sensation opened with a 62 at the Investec South African Women’s Open to post a score that will be difficult to better this season.
Stroke Average
After storming to victory in Cape Town last month, Buhai leads stroke average per round on 68.25 from two events. Narrowly behind her is Roussin on 68.43, while the current Race to Costa del Sol leader Aditi Ashok is third on 69.09.
Total Score
Having dominated the field to win the Magical Kenya Ladies Open, and immediately following this up with third and second-place finishes at the Lalla Meryem Cup and Aramco Saudi Ladies International, India’s Ashok holds the lowest accumulative score on -39 through 11 rounds.
Boosted by her 62 in Cape Town, Noja is second on –34 from 15 rounds. Having played the same amount of rounds as the young German, Czechia’s Klara Davidson Spilkova is third on -31.
Eagles and Birdies
Keeping with the aggressive play, and it’s a three-way tie when it comes to most eagles made on the LET so far this season. In no particular order, Denmark’s Nicole Broch Estrup, France’s Emma Grechi, and South Africa’s Casandra Alexander all lead the way having posted 5 eagles in 2023.
Onto birdies, and it’s England’s Alice Hewson who’s out in front having made a total of 91. She’s followed by compatriot Cara Gainer on 78 – the player who also has the most pars with 245.
Spain’s Ana Pelaez Trivino is then third with 77 birdies, a total which has helped the 25-year-old move into second in the Race to Costa del Sol.
All three players have played in every event so far in 2023 and will look to continue the birdie fest when the season resumes in May.
