As the lights go down on day one of Pre-Qualifying B at Lalla Aicha Tour School, Austria’s Nadine Dreher, Sweden’s Linnea Strom and Scotland’s Rachael Taylor share the first-round lead on six-under-par 66 at Amelkis Golf Club in Marrakesh, Morocco.
Taylor, a former Scottish Golf and NC State player, was bogey-free with one birdie on the front nine and five on the back nine, whereas Dreher dropped just one shot and Strom made an eagle, six birdies and two bogeys.
They hold a two-stroke advantage over Charlotte Hannah Leatham (England), Filippa Moerk (Sweden), Mathilda Cappeliez (France), Tvesa Malik (India) and Alison Muirhead (Scotland).
Niina Liias (Finland) and Annelie Sjoholm (Sweden) are a stroke further back on three-under-par.
Leona Maguire (Ireland), Lara Plachetka (France) and Diksha Dagar (India) are tied for 11th on two-under-par and Lisa Maguire is 39th on two-over.
After four rounds, the top 38 players and ties from a field of 70 will advance to the Final Stage, to be played at Amelkis Golf Club and Palm Golf Ourika over five rounds on December 16-20.
