England’s Annabel Dimmock says she’s feeling good and in a happy place following her best result of the 2023 season so far at the Ladies Open by Pickala Rock Resort.
The 26-year-old put on a solid display in Finland as she posted three consecutive rounds under-par to finish T5 as Carmen Alonso claimed her maiden Ladies European Tour (LET) title.
“I’m a bit gutted with the way that I finished,” Dimmock said, who ended her tournament with a bogey on the par-4 18th. “But overall I’m very happy.
“I feel really good at the moment. I’m happy, I’m swinging good – I do need to get back in the gym a little bit – but apart from that I’m living my best life.”
Dimmock soared into contention on Thursday when she posted a bogey-free 67 (-5) despite a series of storm delays at Pickala Rock Resort.
The Englishwoman would follow up her strong start with a round of 70 (-2) on day two, before four birdies and a 71 (-1) on Saturday saw her end the week in T5 on eight-under-par.
Dimmock said: “I’ve been playing well for a while now so to be honest I’m now really looking forward to London [the next Aramco Team Series event]. Hopefully I can take this momentum with me.
“I’m a professional golfer, I have an amazing boyfriend at home, an amazing family, friends, I’m in a really good place. Life is good at the minute.”
Dimmock has been candid about her mental health struggles over the past two years – as recently discussed on the LET Golf Podcast – but now feels her game is heading in the right direction with four cuts made on the bounce culminating in her best result of 2023 in Finland.
“It’s more of a relief to be back to where I know I should be,” she continued. “It’s been a rough couple of years to be honest. I know I found form at the end of last year, but I don’t just want to find form at the end of the season. I need to put a full season in where I’m in form.
“I know I’m a good player, you just have to do it on the day. It’s funny how things just click sometimes, but I’m feeling good. Even out there this week, I wasn’t even really thinking about the scores. I was just enjoying hitting some shots and I’m looking forward to getting home.”
With a week off in the LET schedule, Dimmock now heads home to England ahead of the next Aramco Team Series event presented by PIF at Centurion Club. Play gets underway on July 14 in St Albans.
She said: “I’m going to have a few chilled days now. My boyfriend lives in town, so I’m going to spend a couple of days in London which will be nice – it’s a bit of a mini break. Then I’m heading back to Sunningdale to get back on the grind and see my coach ready for London.
“To be honest with you, my swing wasn’t 100% this week. I’ve still got a left shot in me, and it’s funny how it came out on the last out there! So I’m going to go back home, speak to my coach and sort that out before London.”
