DIMMOCK EXCITED AND READY FOR NEXT CHALLENGE

Annabel Dimmock

Defending champion Annabel Dimmock will be attending the 2025 KPMG Women’s Irish Open this year as a spectator as she is expecting her first child.

The English star won her second Ladies European Tour (LET) title at Carton House in 2024 defeating France’s Pauline Roussin-Bouchard in a playoff.

It came after Dimmock made a return to golf following a serious injury with the aim of qualifying for the AIG Women’s Open at St Andrews.

Even though, she missed out on the major at the Home of Golf, she lifted the trophy the following week in Ireland with her dad Chris on the bag.

Speaking about her memories from last year, Dimmock said: “There is so much to say, the things that stick out to me were the roar of the fans on the last when I holed my 3-footer to win. Before that, the memory of all the kids running back and forth from the tee in the playoff was so special.

“It meant a lot to have my dad caddying for me, as I had lost in a playoff with him on the bag and it was heartbreaking. I really just wasn’t taking no for an answer this time. To have those memories with my dad are just something money can’t buy.

“I think any win is pretty sweet but to do it during a challenging time, I overcame that and I was really proud of myself. It’s something everyone could look at and shows that no matter how outnumbered you feel or how many chips are down, if you keep fighting good things will come.”

Earlier this month, Dimmock announced on social media that she was expecting a baby girl later this year and she wouldn’t be playing in the tournament.

The 28-year-old will be at Carton House on Saturday and Sunday to watch the 2025 champion be crowned.

The two-time LET winner is excited for the next chapter of her life, but also can’t wait to meet and see spectators in Ireland.

She continued: “I’m really looking forward to coming along to see a lot of my friends that I haven’t seen for a while and just be back on Tour. I’m missing Tour life at the moment, but I’m doing what’s best for me and my baby for now. I can’t wait to meet some of the supporters who were there to watch me last year that maybe I didn’t get the chance to meet also.

“I feel like everything happens for a reason. I’ve always dreamed about being a mum and I’m ready for my next challenge. I don’t see too many kids on tour as it’s extremely hard to juggle both, but I’m looking forward to working out how I’m going to manage that. I want to bring her out on Tour as much as possible, so maybe she can follow in my footsteps one day and do even better things.”
