Davies determined in Denmark

Denmark’s Iben Tinning

Tinning said of Davies: “I’m looking forward to playing with LD. She hits the ball the way a horse would kick it. It’s fun to watch.”

Tinning, the 2005 European no.1, who won three tournaments on the Ladies European Tour last year, has not yet physically recovered from giving birth to her first son, Mads, six months ago. She has hired a personal trainer to get her back in shape and hopes to be at her best by the Dubai Ladies Masters at the end of October.

The Dane admitted: “I started playing too early after the birth because I wanted to qualify for the British Open but I’m paying for it now. I’m mentally and technically sound but physically not where I was last year.

“I’m very proud of being a mother and I’m enjoying it. I don’t have to worry about killing time in hotel rooms any more because Mads is travelling with me to most tournaments and he keeps me busy. But when he is not there, I am doing a lot of sleeping!

“It will be strange defending at Odense because I have never played the course before whereas last year it was at my home course. But I hope the crowds will still come to cheer me on.”
