Young golfers from around Sweden had the opportunity to experience professional golf at the Helsingborg Open through a number of fresh and inspiring activities which took place in partnership with the Swedish Golf Federation (SGF), Vasatorps Golfklubb and local schools.
Via Facebook, the club invited school children to come and try golf with the support of PGA teachers and students from the Swedish Golf High School and the response was overwhelming: more than 1100 children applied for 300 places, available on a first come, first served basis. LET players Viva Schlasberg and Julia Davidsson gave the juniors a clinic and master class. In addition, 90 girls aged 10-14 came from golf clubs around Sweden to meet and learn from six Ladies European Tour professionals.

As part of the SGF’s ‘inspiration camp,’ 10 girls from the ‘Future Girls’ Team’ aged 15-18 met the Ladies European Tour players and learned about the competition pathway from amateur golf in Sweden to the PING Junior Solheim Cup, LET Access Series and Qualifying School process. They also had a surprise guest when Solheim Cup star Caroline Hedwall joined them for dinner one evening.
The ‘Future Girls’ were given a special VIP behind the scenes tour taking in the LET tournament office and TV compound, where they learned about what makes a compelling broadcast.
During the week, the young LET first year members were also given an educational seminar on sports management by Nina Wennerström.
