Carlota Ciganda is looking forward to ending her season once again in Spain at this week’s Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho.
The Solheim Cup star loves playing in her home country and won this title for the first time back in 2021.
Ciganda will have lots of support on the sidelines with friends and family coming to watch her in the Ladies European Tour (LET) season finale.
Having won the trophy three years ago, the 34-year-old is hoping she can take it home once again at the end of play on Sunday.
“I’m very happy to be here,” she said. “I love playing in Spain, my home country is always special and last tournament of the year.
“It’s always exciting finishing here. I have a lot of friends and family, so it’s always nice to play here.
“It’s very special and always an important week in my schedule. I’m going to try to play as well as I can and hopefully get that title again on Sunday.”
Real Club Guadalhorce Golf in Malaga is hosting the tournament for the first time and Ciganda has teed it up here before.
It may have been nearly 20 years ago, but the seven-time LET winner won an interclub championship at this golf course.
She continued: “I played here when I was an amateur, so like 20 years ago. I can’t remember, but I do have good memories. We won like this interclub championship here when I was 14.
“Good memories from here, but I can’t really remember much about the course. The south of Spain is always very nice. Hopefully, the weather cooperates and I love coming here, it’s always great weather, great food and I love the people.”
Ciganda will begin her challenge for a second Open de España title at 12 pm (local time) from the 10th tee alongside Sweden’s Sara Kjellker and Spanish amateur Andrea Revuelta.
