Carlota Ciganda will have the opportunity to defend her title at the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España 2022 – the final tournament of the current LET season – which will take place at Alferini Golf Club, in Benahavis between November 24-27.
The player from Navarra won the last edition of the tournament at Los Naranjos Golf Club last year, beating Sweden’s Maja Stark by four strokes and the Thai Atthaya Thitikul, winner of the 2021 Race to Costa del Sol, by five.
“I am very excited to be able to defend the title that I won last year at the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open in Spain and to play again in Spain in this final stretch of the season,” said Ciganda.
With that triumph achieved last year at Los Naranjos Golf Club, Ciganda finally got her hands on her country’s national title, and if she were to defend her trophy this year she would also complete this season by winning her two tests played in Spain, after victory at the Estrella Damm Ladies Open presented by Catalunya held at the Terramar Golf Club.
“I have been fortunate to be the Spanish champion in all categories and winning the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open title in Spain last year was very special,” she continued.
“I always have very good memories of the tournaments I have played on the Costa del Sol and Andalusia, so I am looking forward to facing the best players on the LET and concluding the year in the best possible way.”
Ciganda is currently the best-placed Spaniard in the world ranking, occupying 48th place after a strong season which has seen her take victory in Sitges as well as equalling her best finish at a Major after taking third at The Amundi Evian Championship.
The Andalucía Costa del Sol Open in Spain is the closing event of the Ladies European Tour season where the winner of the Race To Costa del Sol will be crowned for the third consecutive edition, the prize fund for the tournament will be €650,000.
