The 2017 LET rookie of the year Camille Chevalier from France and Sofia Sofia Ljungvist from Sweden completed opening rounds of three-under-par 68 on Friday morning to join Switzerland’s Valeria Martinoli at the head of affairs with a slim one-shot lead in the Jabra Ladies Open.
However, soon afterwards, Chevalier and Martinoli both dropped shots in the first three holes of their second rounds while England’s Felicity Johnson and Finland’s Ursula Wikstrom made fast starts to vault ahead. Johnson came firing out of the blocks with an eagle on the 15th followed by two birdies to be four-under-par for her first three holes. Wikstrom birdied the par-5 seventh, which she played as her second hole and Ljungvist started her second round a little later at 10.20am.
Conditions at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Evian-les-Bains, France, are extremely pleasant this morning with sunny skies and a cool, spring-like feeling in the air. The competitors are all hoping to return in September for The Evian Championship, as the leading two players will book their spot in the final Major of the year.
