Trichat Cheenglab has big aims for the 2026 Ladies European Tour (LET) season after a fourth-place finish at the Australian Women’s Classic.
The Thai star has rebuilt her trust and has newfound confidence after a string of strong results beginning at the end of last year.
After a top-5 finish at Magenta Shores, Cheenglab is looking forward to teeing it up in the $1.7m AUD Women’s Australian Open in Adelaide.
“I’m quite happy with it, but I know I can do better than fourth place,” she said. “My putting speed is not that good since the third day. It’s a bit faster, but sometimes when I want to putt downhill, I didn’t stroke it well, so it would be three to four-feet short.
“I can make par from it. This week as well there are quick greens and slopes. Putting speed and planning the game on your second shots is quite important.
“I want to win every week if I could. Since China last year, I have had a lot of confidence in my golf game. I worked pretty hard on my swing, changing a bit my swing for my driver and my irons. It’s worked very well at that time.”
Cheenglab, who won both the Rookie of the Year and Order of Merit titles, had struggles with her game after early success on the LET.
However, she is now wanting to notch up another victory on Tour and also finish in the top 10 at the end of the year on the Order of Merit.
“This year the mental game is much better,” she continued. “In 2024, after I won the Rookie and Order of Merit I went to the LPGA Tour and I was disappointed that year.
“When I come back to LET, I am always confident. It makes me more confident and brings me a lot of energy. Let’s see if I can do top 10 this year in the Order of Merit.
“I don’t expect to win this week! But I want to play with Minjee [Lee] or Stephanie [Kyriacou] or Hannah [Green]. I’d like to do well and play with them.”
Cheenglab will begin her title tilt at 12.42 pm (local time) in Adelaide alongside Czechia’s Sara Kouskova and Australian amateur Jazy Roberts.
