Charley Hull backs John O'Gaunt qualifier

John O’Gaunt Golf Club are preparing for one of the biggest events in the club’s history as they host the Final Qualifiers for the Ricoh Women’s British Open on Monday, July 25th.

The Bedfordshire club will see some of the best lady golfers on the planet take to its main course as they battle it out for a spot in the prestigious major, which is being held at Woburn Golf Club a few days later.

British number one golfer Charley Hull, who was coached by John O’Gaunt club pro Lee Scarbrow for many years as a junior, has already qualified for the main tournament but she says her fellow pros will enjoying the challenge of competing on her old course.

Hull said: “It’s great for John O’Gaunt and it will be great for the pros because it’s a fun golf course, where you’ve got to hit it straight, otherwise you can get into trouble.

“The last few holes can be very tricky, but it will suit some of the players, who will have a good chance around there. The key is to try and win the qualifier. If you just miss out on winning it, you’ve probably qualified so you will still be happy.

“I’ve played there ever since I was a kid and I like it. My old coach Lee Scarbrow is there and I’ve got some good memories of having fun with him, he’s a great guy. I’m sure everyone will enjoy the event.”
