Each year at the Xiamen Open a tree will be planted at Haicang Bay Park in honour of the champion.
Organisers hope that both the young tree and tournament will mature, with the Xiamen Open becoming one of the best international championships on the Ladies European Tour and China LPGA schedules respectively.
Xiamen is known as one of the cleanest cities in China, with clear blue seas and bright blue sunny skies. Through the symbolic planting of a tree, organisers also hope to draw attention to the importance of environmental sustainability, promote a healthy outdoors lifestyle and protect the surrounding area of natural beauty.
