Carly Booth has returned to DLF Golf and Country Club to compete in the Hero Women’s Indian Open this week, where she will be looking for a third Ladies European Tour title as part of the 114-player field.
A big fan of India, Carly was chosen to feature in Incredible India’s global marketing campaign, which was filmed in New Delhi and Calcutta, in April.
“It was great to come to India and see some different parts because when I’m playing in a golf tournament I usually only see the hotel and golf course, but I had three days of exploring and filming,” said the former Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open and Deutsche Bank Swiss Open champion, who is seen playing gully cricket and golf, on some of India’s world class courses.

She added: “I enjoy the food here and I have seen some really beautiful parts of India. I feel blessed, but I still want to go to the Taj Mahal.”
Carly was selected by the producers thanks to her strong public profile and she added: “It was nice to be asked and to be recognised because I spend a lot of time and effort on my social media. When I’m at a golf tournament, I’m focused on my golf, but during the shoot I had the opportunity to experience and see more.
“As far as this week goes, I’ve been hitting the ball nicely and I’ve got to keep that confidence high. My game is not far away and a lot of it is in my head. I’ve just got to believe in myself: that’s my only goal this week – and to have fun.”
The Hero Women’s Indian Open will be played from Friday 10 to Sunday 12 November and is co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour and the Women’s Golf Association of India.
This is the eighth year that the LET has proudly partnered with the Women’s Golf Association of India through this prestigious event, with the title sponsorship of Hero Motocorp. The tournament has been a huge stepping stone for the development of the game, both domestically and internationally.
Since the first year of the LET’s involvement in 2010, when Laura Davies lifted the trophy, the succession of world class winners has included Caroline Hedwall, Gwladys Nocera, Pornanong Phatlum and India’s own Aditi Ashok, who has returned to defend her title, fresh from her victory at the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open in Abu Dhabi.
The challenging Gary Player-designed Black Knight Course at DLF Golf and Country Club will undoubtedly produce a worthy champion. It is hosting its third successive Hero Women’s Indian Open and hosted the Hero Indian Open, on the men’s European Tour, in March, won by S.S.P. Chawrasia.
In 2015, the leading LET rookie, Emily Kristine Pedersen, won her maiden title at DLF G&CC with a winning 54-hole score of level par, while Aditi Ashok earned her first title in 2016 with a winning score of three-under-par.
This year’s field includes two past champions in Aditi Ashok and Thidapa Suwannapura, who won at Delhi Golf Club in 2013, as well as Carlota Ciganda, the highest ranked player in the field. The other top players to watch include the Lalla Meryem Cup winner Klara Spilkova, the Estrella Damm Mediterranean Ladies Open champion Florentyna Parker, Anne Van Dam and Ana Menendez, who are all in the top 20 on the LET order of merit heading into the final three Ranking events of the year in India, China and Dubai.
