Broch Larsen marching towards victory

Nicole Broch Larsen had romped seven strokes clear of her nearest rivals after just six holes in the final round of the Helsingborg Open in Sweden.

Playing in blustery conditions, Broch Larsen birdied the second, third and sixth to reach 17 under par ahead of Ashleigh Simon and Malene Jorgensen. However, there was a two shot swing on the par-4 eighth, which Broch Larsen bogeyed and Simon birdied, reducing the gap to five.

If she wins today, the 22-year-old Dane will become the third first time winner in the three year history of the Helsingborg Open following Rebecca Artis and Dewi Claire Schreefel. She would pick up a first prize of 37,500 and secure a place in next week’s Evian Championship.

Broch Larsen is playing in her second year on the Ladies European Tour. She qualified through the LET Access Series where she won two titles: the HLR Golf Academy Open in Finland and Ladies Norwegian Challenge in 2013.

So far this season she has already recorded three top five finishes including second at the Tisport Golf Masters in the Czech Republic three weeks ago, where she had a triple bogey on the 16th hole and lost to Hannah Burke.
