Nicole Broch Estrup secured her spot in the 2023 AIG Women’s Open thanks to a T6 finish in Scotland last week.
The Dane had not yet qualified to the final major of the year, which is taking place at Walton Heath from August 10-13.
But there were three spots up for grabs at the 2023 FREED GROUP Women’s Scottish Open Presented by Trust Golf for those who players who weren’t already exempt.
And at the conclusion of the tournament on Sunday, it was Broch Estrup who finished top of the players and qualified her place.
“It feels really good to not have to play in the Final Qualifying,” said the LET winner. “Obviously, the AIG Women’s Open, that will be my only major this year and last year I was playing well but missed the cut by one.
“I’m looking forward to play next week and if I can continue doing the mental stuff that I’m doing, then I think I’m okay. “
It was a solid week at Dundonald Links for Broch Estrup who carded rounds of 68-72-68-70 to finish in a share of sixth place alongside Sweden’s Caroline Hedwall and Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit.
The Dane has spoken openly about her mental health struggles and anxiety around the game but was pleased with how she dealt with last week.
Especially considering she had different caddies throughout the week after her husband Kasper got injured during the first round.
She explained: “I was in the second-to-last group so there was definitely a bit more nerves but Oscar [my caddie] did an amazing job talking about just really random things.
“He just kept me in it, and I mean I did a good job myself as well just to be present and not think ahead and not thinking oh, I really want to finish top 10 or top five. I was just there and I just played 18 holes.
“Which was honestly feels really good to have done that and it’s been a while since I’ve felt like that on the course being in contention. I mean, it’s only sixth place but for me, it’s a huge win.”
