BREWERTON AND EKELUNDH TWO ADRIFT AT THE ANZ LADIES MASTERS

Cecilia Ekelundh

Ekelundh, a three time winner on the Ladies European Tour, won back to-back Portuguese titles in 2004 and 2005 and then claimed the Ladies English Open in 2006, meaning that she has won at least once in each of the last three years.

The 28-year-old from Solvesborg is keen to keep her record in tact. She is also in high spirits after getting married on December 31st to Johan Aronsson.

Ekelundh was delighted with her first round and she said: “I haven’t played this well in a year and a half. I didn’t play so well last year.

“I just want to keep on winning. I’ve won once in each of the past three years and I want to play in The Solheim Cup. It’s back in Sweden so I definitely want to play there.”

Ekelundh heads to Malaysia on Monday for a delayed three week honeymoon and she agreed that a win in the ANZ Ladies Masters and a first prize of AUD$120,000 would quite nicely fund the break.

Ahn, the first round leader, had ten birdies and two bogeys for an eight-under-par 64. The 19-year-old, who plays all of her golf on the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) won one tournament in 2006, the KB Bank Star Tour, in Seoul.
