(Remeteségpuszta, Hungary July 17 2004) Finland’s Minea Blomqvist admitted the reason she is playing so well this week at the €165,000 OTP Bank Ladies Central European Open in Hungary is because she is imagining herself competing against the World number one Annika Sörenstam in matchplay when she goes out on the course.

Blomqvist has the same swing coach in Pia Nilsson and also works with Kai Fusser, Sörenstam’s fitness trainer. And from the form she has shown over this season, there is every chance she will be another first time winner on the LET on Sunday afternoon.
Since appearing on the LET at her first event in Tenerife, Blomqvist has racked up two top ten finishes and tomorrow, she has vowed not to let up and put her foot on the pedal in search of the €24,750 first prize.
“I want to keep my name at the top of the leaderboard all day tomorrow,” she added.
“If I can shoot a 66 or 65, I think that should be enough. I hope I can stay relaxed and play my own game and keep enjoying how I am playing right now.”
Marine Monnet from France, who occupied second place after the first round, sits a shot further back on eight under par alongside compatriot Virginie Auffret, while Maria Hjorth from Sweden, last week’s English Open winner, sits in a five way tie for eighth place on six under par.
