Dane adds another 19 birdies to her LET Break Par Challenge tally
In a year which is all about Emily Kristine Pedersen, the fiery Dane is in line to collect another title at the LET Break Par Challenge Powered by Golf Saudi and the winner’s prize of €5,000 to donate to her chosen charity.
With only two events to play, the three-time LET winner extended her lead atop the rankings with an exciting victory at the Aramco Saudi Ladies International Powered by PIF, overcoming major winner Georgia Hall in a thrilling play-off.
Recording an impressive ten eagles this year, averaging a remarklabe one per tournament, the 24-year-old has notched double the amount of her nearest challenger Kylie Henry, who has five to her name.
With a commanding 28-point lead, her challengers are going to need something special to overthrow her but with 25 points on offer for an albatross, anything is possible.
Last week’s ‘slam dunk’ star Caroline Hedwall continued her hot form, finishing in third place in the Kingdom and leading the 108-player field with 21 birdies to continue her push for a top ten.
Current LET ‘Rookie of the Year’ Stephanie Kyriacou, who won as an amateur at the start of the year and has since finished inside the top five on four occasions, ended the week with the most ‘Break Par’ points. The Australian teenager may have made six less birdies than Hedwall but she bagged two eagles, worth five points a-piece, to add 25 points to her tally – leaving her on the verge of the coveted top ten.
Finland’s Sanna Nuutined regained fifth place on the standing from Gustavsson, who nudged the Finn to sixth last week in Dubai while Laura Fuenstueck continued her fine form, moving from tenth to eighth – bumping Germany’s Olivia Cowan out of the leaderboard.
Sweden’s Julia Engstrom still holds the record for most birdies at an event, firing an impressive 24 at the Women’s New South Wales Open earlier in the season.
