The Grow Golf Fund, established by the British Golf Industry Association (BGIA), is delighted to announce that they have awarded a grant of £1,500 to the Ladies European Tour to help fund an event to support the development of girls’ golf.
The annual Development Day took place on 6th May, on the eve of the US Women’s Open Qualifier at Buckinghamshire Golf Club, the Ladies European Tour’s headquarters, with the aim of attracting more women and girls to the game. The day links directly to the Girls’ Golf Rocks initiative which is being promoted by the Golf Foundation and England Golf. The event was also supported by The R&A.
Chair of the Grow Golf Fund, Bob Smith, said: “The Grow Golf Fund was established to stimulate golf participation across all age groups, regions and social backgrounds in the UK. Attracting more women to the game starts with making golf accessible and appealing to girls from an early age.
“From the outset, the BGIA and the Grow Golf Fund have worked with other leading bodies in the golf industry on innovative proposals to grow the participation of golf in the UK. As more and more women and girls take up the sport, it’s great to see an event such as this, helping to inspire young girls who are just starting out in the sport.”

We wanted to use this event to celebrate the fantastic work being done by PGA Pros and volunteers in the clubs to promote the Girls’ Golf Rocks initiative and I know the LET’s players are keen to do their bit to inspire the next generation of golfers. The Grow Golf Fund, alongside The R&A, has helped to make our special development event possible.”
