Kelsey Bennett had an excellent final few months of 2024 to finish the season on a high as she looks forward to this year.
The Australian won on the LET Access Series, secured her place at 2025 Ford Women’s NSW Open, and earned her Ladies European Tour (LET) card for 2025.
Bennett, who turned professional in 2022, triumphed in a Regional Qualifying Event for the 2025 Ford Women’s NSW Open just prior to attending Lalla Aicha Q-School.
The Mollymook player fired rounds of 70 and 71 at Dubbo Golf Club to secure her third win of the year.
“It was really good,” she said. “Obviously, I was thinking about coming over [to Morocco] but I decided to stay and play those regional qualifiers. I came third at Narrabri. I was in the last group then and just couldn’t get any putts to drop.
“Dubbo was really good; it was neck and neck all day with my really good friend Danni [Vasquez-Boyd]. It was tough to watch her struggle a bit at the end there. I just hung in there and holed two really good putts to finish, and I managed to win by two shots, so I was pretty stoked about it.”
During the 2024 season, Bennett had some status on the LET thanks to re-ranking herself after the events in Australia.
However, she also played six events on LETAS securing three top-10 finishes before winning the Hauts De France Pas De Calais Golf Open in September.
She continued: “It’s really tough because it’s so hard to say no to the LET events, but obviously I didn’t play enough events. I think if I’d played a few more LETAS events, I was finishing right up there in the OOM, especially after that win.
“It was really tough. After the win, I had to make the choice about China on the LET or Spain on LETAS. It was really tricky, and I don’t want to have to be in that position again, to be honest. It was good motivation for Q-School.
“Last season I played the NSW Open finishing T28 and got re-ranked, but it was a bit late, so I didn’t get too many starts. If I can get more starts at the start of the year and then the three LET events in Aus, that would be ideal because then I can get some more points earlier rather than waiting for a re-rank. That’s the goal.”
After rounds of 69-72-76-67-69 at Al Maaden Golf and Royal Golf Marrakech, Bennett ended Lalla Aicha Q-School in a share of 19th place on 10-under-par.
The result meant she secured Category 12 status for 2025, and the 24-year-old is looking forward to the year ahead.
She added: “Honestly, it’s the most rewarding feeling when all the work you actually put in pays off. It’s unreal! Q-School’s are always so touch and go and it involves a lot of luck. I’m super excited to be part of the LET for 2025.”
