APRIL RALLYING TO KEEP CARD FOLLOWING TESTING SEASON

It is crucial week for several Ladies European Tour (LET) stars vying to keep their cards for 2026 at the season-ending Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho.

One player on the bubble is Thailand’s April Angurasaranee, currently sitting 72nd in the Order of Merit. The top-70 following the conclusion of this week’s event in Malaga will earn Category 4 status for 2026.

Competing in her third year on the LET, the promising 21-year-old has had an up-and-down season placing T5 at the Jabra Ladies Open – her best result of the season – and winning the Team competition at the Aramco Houston Championship.

Despite missing only a handful of cuts, Angurasaranee has failed to make anymore top-10s in 2025, meaning this week’s showdown in Spain is make or break for the Thai star.

“With it being the final event, there are a couple of things on the line which is a little stressful,” she admitted. “But I just want to try and enjoy it. It’s been one long year with lots of things happening. I’ll try to give it one last push but overall I’ll try to enjoy being out with friends in the last event.

“I feel like this year I should have more experience by now. But I didn’t really place myself well this off-season. I didn’t prioritise seeing my coach as much as I should have. So the confidence in my game wasn’t there. Even when I had good momentum, there was then a week off. So every time I gained momentum, there was always a little something that stopped it. This year was more about momentum rather than a prep issue.”

On top of the added pressure, Angurasaranee has also been dealing with an ankle injury over the past few months – something with caused her to withdraw from the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open before missing back-to-back cuts in Asia.

Despite this, the 21-year-old has now recovered and is feeling confident heading into the season finale.

“I haven’t actually touched a club that much because I was kind of injured,” Angurasaranee said. “I had an MRI scan [on my ankle] last Monday but everything is fine. I just got back to practicing three or four days before I left. But I felt great again. I’m hitting it well. I was able to see my coach too so I’m feeling a lot more confident than I was before China. I’m looking forward to this week.”

As for the upcoming task, Angurasaranee will tee up at Real Guadalhorce Club de Golf alongside a field of 74 other players. Her Order of Merit rivals, the likes of compariot Aunchisa Utama (70th), Spain’s Ana Pelaez Trivino (68th) and Ireland’s Sara Byrne (67th) will also be present in Spain. The Thai star expects a tricky test before heading home for the Christmas break.

“I didn’t play here last year but the course is very interesting,” she said. “It has some tricky greens. But I’ll just focus on the opportunities ahead this week and focus on keeping my card for next year.

“After this I’ll go back home. I’ll probably leave the clubs for a couple of weeks, have a bit of a reset. Some reflection time, some reset time with my family and my dogs. Lot of Thai food too! Then I’ll then start practicing again in January.”
