Anna Nordqvist Makes Major Move in the World Golf Rankings

Swedish and European Solheim Cup star Anna Nordqvist has made a major move up to fourth position in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings following her Evian Championship victory in France on Sunday.

Anna carded rounds of 66, 72, 66 for a 54-hole championship total of nine-under par and to tie the lead with Brittany Altomare. In severe weather conditions, of strong wind and rain, she made a five-foot bogey putt at the first play-off hole to reign supreme at the Evian Resort Golf Club.

The 30-year-old from Eskilstuna became the first European woman to win a Major since Suzann Pettersen, who won the Evian Championship in its inaugural year in 2013. It was Nordqvist’s second victory of the season, following the Bank of Hope Founders Cup. This was her eighth career victory in total and her second Major following the 2009 McDonald’s LPGA Championship. With first prize winnings of $547,500, or €460,343, she has now earned more than $8 million in her 10-year career.
