Beth Allen of the United States had joined Thailand’s Ariya Jutanugarn at the top of the leader board at the turn as the third round of the Lalla Meryem Cup was played in sunny conditions at Golf de l‘Ocean on Saturday.
Two clear overnight, Jutanugarn made a strong start with two birdies in her first three holes but dropped a shot at the fourth before recovering with a third birdie on the fifth.
She was joined at eight under by fellow rookie Charley Hull, at eight under after four birdies in her first seven holes, before she dropped a shot at the ninth.
However, Allen joined Jutanugarn at eight under par after firing her fourth birdie of the day on the ninth hole. Americans Katie Burnett and Mallory Fraiche were two strokes off the lead on six under par after 12 and 10 holes respectively. While conditions at Agadir were sunny, the breeze was back up and none of the early starters had managed better than Florentyna Parker’s five under 66, which took her from 55th into a tie for 14th.
