After a nail-biting finish at the Big Green Egg Open – one which saw Thailand’s Trichat Cheenglab land her maiden title – the Ladies European Tour (LET) heads to Switzerland this week for the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open.
It is the fourth consecutive edition of the tournament following an eight-year hiatus, with Wales’ Amy Boulden (2020), Thailand’s Atthaya Thitikul (2021), and England’s Liz Young (2022) the last three victors.
Situated just south of Zurich and overlooking the picturesque Lake Zug, Golfpark Holzhäusern is once again on hosting duties for the fourth year in a row.
Known for its stunning views and mountainous backdrop, the par-71 Golfpark Holzhäusern offers a unique challenge with accuracy off the tee a crucial factor.
A total of 126 players from 24 nations will tee up in Switzerland for the 54-hole stroke play tournament.
Offering a prize fund of €300,000, the winner of this year’s VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open will be crowned on Sunday 17 September following a cut of the top 60 players and ties after round two.
Defending champion Young is once again in the field having clinched a one-shot victory last year to secure her maiden LET title.
Three of the top four players in this year’s Race to Costa del Sol will also be present in Switzerland as they go in pursuit of Celine Boutier’s top spot.
This includes last week’s winner Cheenglab – now fourth in the standings – as well as Spain’s Ana Pelaez Trivino who sits second and India’s Diksha Dagar who is currently third. All three can move into first position with a win in Switzerland.
There are no fewer than nine Swiss players in the field this week with Kim Metraux leading the home charge alongside rookies Vanessa Knecht and Tiffany Arafi.
Rising amateurs Sarah Uebelhart, Caroline Sturdza, and Natalie Armbruester are three home players to also keep an eye on, while Elena Moosmann – the local star who finished third here in 2021 – has been given an invite once again.
Elsewhere, seven winners from this season will be teeing up at Golfpark Holzhäusern. Joining Cheenglab in this circle are Dagar, Czechia’s Kristyna Napoleaova, Denmark’s Smilla Tarning Soenderby, Spain’s Nuria Iturrioz, Sweden’s Lisa Pettersson, Germany’s Patricia Isabel Schmidt, and England’s Lily May Humphreys.
