10 players earn spots on 2015 U.S. Solheim Cup Team

Ten American players claimed their spots on the 2015 United States Solheim Cup Team after the conclusion of the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open.

The 14th edition of The Solheim Cup will be played September 18-20, 2015 at St. Leon-Rot Golf Club in St. Leon-Rot, Germany. The U.S. Team seeks to avenge two consecutive losses to Team Europe and will be fighting for their first win on European soil since their 16-12 victory in 2007 at Halmstad Golf Club in Sweden.

TEAM USA

Based on the final U.S. Solheim Cup standings after the conclusion of this week’s Canadian Pacific Women’s Open, the top-eight players who automatically qualified for the team via a points race that began at the 2013 CN Canadian Women’s Open are (listed in order of points ranking): Stacy Lewis, Lexi Thompson, Cristie Kerr, Michelle Wie, Brittany Lincicome, Morgan Pressel, Angela Stanford and Gerina Piller. The two highest-ranked players not in the top-8 spots on the points list who qualified via the Rolex Rankings are No. 29 Alison Lee and No. 32 Lizette Salas.

U.S. Team Captain Juli Inkster will announce her two captain’s pick during a live, one-hour Golf Central special on Monday, August 24 from 7-8 p.m. ET from Golf Channel’s Orlando studios.

TEAM EUROPE

Suzann Pettersen (Norway), Gwladys Nocera (France), Charley Hull (England) and Melissa Reid (England) earned spots on the European Team based on Ladies European Tour points on August 9. Four more players joined them based on their Rolex Rankings following the conclusion of the  Canadian Pacific Women’s Open: No. 10 Anna Nordqvist (Sweden), No. 23 Azahara Munoz (Spain), No. 43 Sandra Gal (Germany) and No. 52 Carlota Ciganda (Spain).

European Team Captain Carin Koch will announce her four captain’s picks live from London on Tuesday, August 25 on Sky Sports Sportswomen show from 11:30am – 12pm BST.
