Kerr leads by three as third round suspended due to darkness

Round three of the Lacoste Ladies Open de France was suspended at 19:37 on Saturday due to darkness and will resume at 8:45 on Sunday morning.

Cristie Kerr held a six-stroke lead on 14-under-par after 36 holes, however, her advantage was cut to three over Anne Van Dam when play was halted after the pair had played eight holes in the third round on Saturday evening.

“I kind of ran out of gas a little bit this afternoon. I didn’t get much sleep last night, and I just kind of lost my legs and my swing a bit,” Kerr said. “They cut the greens (after round two) so the speed changed a little bit and I didn’t quite get it. Now, I’ll get some rest and be ready for tomorrow, because there’s a lot of golf left.

“I don’t care about the lead, because it doesn’t mean anything. Sometimes when you have a big lead you can get complacent, but now I still have to play my best. I have to give it everything I’ve got tomorrow.”

The two-time tournament champion Azahara Muñoz made the biggest move in the third round, with four birdies in 12 holes, at the second, ninth, 11th and 12th.

While Muñoz is looking for her sixth LET title following her victory at the Andalucia Costa del Sol Open de España a fortnight ago, Kerr is looking for her first (and her 27th career win in total) and Van Dam is playing for her second following the Xiamen Open in China last year.
