Park set for Evian Championship

Three weeks after the close of the Olympic Games, the women’s Olympic golf champion, Inbee Park, is set to compete in the Evian Championship at Evian Resort Golf Club in Evian-les-Bains, France, on 15-18 September.

In 2013, The Evian Championship was played on a remodelled golf course and became the fifth Major in women’s golf. However, the previous year, in 2012, Park won the Evian Masters at the same venue in the scenic Evian Resort.

This year, for the first time, three global qualifying events have been held, in Europe, Asia and the USA, offering five players a spot in the highly select field of 120 competitors.

The prize money for the championship is US$ 3,250,000, including US $487,500 for the winner. After the first two rounds of the championship there will be a cut to the leading 70 players and ties.
