Georgia Hall has an experienced caddie on her bag this week for her first appearance in the Evian Championship, the final Major of the year, being played at Evian Resort Golf Club in France.
As a one-off, Australian Brad Beecher, who caddied for the former world number one Inbee Park when she won the Evian Masters at the resort in 2012, as well as when she won the gold medal in Rio, has replaced Hall’s father, Wayne, who had been caddying since the US Women’s Open. In her last six events, Georgia has posted tied-46th in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, tied-8th in the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic, tied-51st at the US Women’s Open, tied-ninth at the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open, tied-third at the Ricoh Women’s British Open and earned two points for the European team at The Solheim Cup in Iowa.
“My dad is having a well-deserved break after working at the last six tournaments. I have Brad Beacher on the bag, who caddied for Inbee Park for 11 years, so he knows what he’s doing. It’s just a one-off for this week but we’ll see how it goes,” said Hall, 21, from Dorset.
She added: “It’s my first time here at The Evian, so I’m looking forward to playing the golf course and having a good week. I think the course is lovely. It’s really tight, really hilly and there are a lot of slopes on the greens, so I think that putting is very important. I love the greens, they are a good pace, not too fast, which is good for me, being an English girl.”
Georgia, who last week was voted as the UK Player of the Year in the inaugural American Golf awards, is currently ranked third on the LET’s Order of Merit with earnings of €243,928.58 from five tournaments, €216,724 behind top-ranked In-Kyung Kim and €34,208 behind second-placed Jodi Ewart-Shadoff.
The first prize in Evian is US$547,500, or approximately €458,884, which means that Hall could move ahead of the Ricoh Women’s British Open winner with her own maiden Major championship title this week.
