It’s moving day at the Aderdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open and the experienced American Cristie Kerr, who held the halfway lead at five-under-par, made the perfect start with a birdie on the first hole in a strong wind at Dundonald Links this afternoon.
Despite the tough conditions, there have been plenty of birdies this morning with Carlota Ciganda, Olafia Kristinsdottir, Emily Kristine Pedersen, Georgia Hall, Lina Boqvist, Joanna Klatten and Carly Booth amongst the players from the home continent in contention.
As well as battling for the trophy and $225,000 first prize cheque, Kristinsdottir and Boqvist are both trying to qualify for next week’s Ricoh Women’s British Open, as the top three LET Members not already exempt will gain entry to the Major championship.
Adding some extra motivation for the European players is also the prospect of earning a spot on the Solheim Cup team, which will be announced next Sunday evening. With extra points available for top 10 finishes in Scotland, there could be some major moves on the rankings this weekend.
