On a day when only 30 out of 120 were at par or better, Anais Meysonnier from France took the early lead after the first round at the Jabra Ladies Open.
The LET Access Series rookie who turned professional in February this year, fired seven birdies against two bogeys in a five-under-par 66, to take a one stroke lead at the €50,000 event, held at the Evian Resort Golf Club.
Speaking post her round, Meysonnier said, “I hit my irons very straight, and my putting was good.”
The 20-year-old who lives in Arles is excited at having a chance to qualify for the Evian Championship in September this year, as the event offers two spots into the fifth Major after the completion of 54 holes.
Close on her heels are fellow Frenchwomen Isabelle Boineau and Camille Chevalier, with England’s LET Access winner Meghan Maclaren all tied for second at four-under. A further trio of players are at three-under.
The leading amateur is Denmark’s Puk Lyng Thomsen who shot a one-over 72, followed by France’s Emma Grechi a shot behind at two-over.
The Jabra Ladies Open is making its debut on the LET Access Series, which is the LET’s developmental tour.
