Georgia gets the perfect 21st birthday present

England’s Georgia Hall received the perfect 21st birthday present when she learned that she will play alongside childhood idol Suzann Pettersen in the first two rounds of the Lalla Meryem Cup.

The 36-year-old Norwegian is an eight-time Solheim Cup player, while Hall is trying to qualify for a debut appearance for Europe at Des Moines in Iowa this August.

On the eve of the tournament in Morocco, Hall admitted that she was excited to play in her second LET event of the year, after a tie for third place at the World Ladies Championship in China.

“Suzann is actually my idol, so I’m not going to think about that, but I’ve never played with her before and I was hoping. I will concentrate on my golf but it’s great to get to play with her too and hopefully I’ll play well,” said Hall, who is ranked second behind Melissa Reid on the LET Order of Merit.

“I think I’ve got a great chance. I played well in China and I’ve been practising well. I’m looking forward to my first round tomorrow and I’m going to take every shot as it comes.

“I love coming back to Morocco and it’s kind of the first event for a lot of people to play this year. I love the golf course and 21 is a big birthday. It doesn’t really feel like my birthday, but I’m having a good day.”
