Oates Vic Open to be streamed live

Fans unable to make it to 13th Beach Golf Links for the final two rounds of the 2017 Oates Vic Open will still have the opportunity to follow the drama from Barwon Heads with Golf Victoria’s high-definition live stream of the weekend’s play.

On Saturday and Sunday (February 11-12), golf fans around the globe will be able to enjoy a live broadcast of the Oates Vic Open at vicopengolf.com and also via Facebook LIVE on the Golf Victoria Facebook page – streaming to all desktops, tablets and mobiles.

Hosts Andy Maher, Grant Dodd and Alison Whitaker will present all the action from both on and off the course as the men’s and women’s fields take to 13th Beach’s renowned Beach course.

“We’re extremely excited to build on the year one success of our live stream product for the upcoming 2017 Oates Vic Open,” says Greg Oakford, Marketing and Communications Manager at Golf Victoria.

“In 2016 it was much of a trial for us about what we could deliver. We now know we have a product that is appealing to audiences not just in our own backyard but also internationally with over 30% of our viewership coming from abroad last year.”

The return of Golf Victoria’s live broadcast of the closing 36 holes of the tournament is also good news for those heading to 13th Beach, with big screens around the venue guaranteed to keep spectators up to date with the latest happenings from around the course.

“The live stream will be projected all throughout the 13th Beach Golf Links precinct including the introduction of new spectator screens,” says Oakford.

“Last year we also saw plenty of spectators utilising their smartphones to keep track of the entire field as they followed specific groups on course.”

The Oates Vic Open is the only golf tournament of its kind in the world, with the men’s and women’s fields playing concurrently across 13th Beach’s Creek and Beach courses over the four tournament rounds.

The total prize pool for the 2017 Oates Vic Open has been boosted to $1 million and will again be shared evenly between the men’s and women’s events.
