Hall Leads Solheim Cup Rankings

Bournemouth’s Georgia Hall ended the 2016 season in style by finishing fourth on the LET Order of Merit after posting eight top 10 finishes from 15 tournaments, including a runner-up spot at the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open in Abu Dhabi.

Now entering her third year as a Member of the Ladies European Tour, the 20-year-old will start her 2017 campaign leading the European Solheim Cup Rankings for the team that will attempt to regain the trophy from the Americans at Des Moines Golf and Country Club in Iowa on August 14-20.

This year marks the 15th staging of the world’s biggest women’s professional golf tournament, which is contested between Europe and the United States every two years.

Annika Sorenstam’s 12-woman European team will comprise four players from the LET Points List, four players from the World Rankings and Four Captain’s Selections.

Hall currently tops the list with 68.25 points ahead of fellow Englishwomen Charley Hull and Florentyna Parker, followed by the 2015 Rookie of the Year Emily Kristine Pedersen from Denmark. Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist, Suzann Pettersen of Norway, Carlota Ciganda from Spain and Karine Icher from France occupy the top four positions from the World Golf Rankings respectively.

Some of the other players who will be targeting a place on the team include Nanna Koerstz Madsen, Caroline Hedwall, Becky Morgan and Isabelle Boineau, so there is plenty to play for.

Hall previously represented Europe as a member of the 2013 PING Junior Solheim Cup team in Denver, Colorado and she loves match play, as she declared during The Queens presented by Kowa in Japan in December, where she partnered European Solheim Cup Vice-Captain Catriona Matthew to victory in the four-balls against Katherine Kirk and Lauren Hibbert and then won the top singles match against Kirk on Sunday.
